Ramadan Activities Day # 14

SEEKING ALLAH'S PROTECTION
&
A RUSTY HEART VS A SHINY HEART

Lil Muallimah's Activities

Ramadan Vocabulary Words

It's a common discussion and reminder in our home , how Shaitaan whispers ideas in our minds and it's our choice to listen to him or not. How to seek Allah's protection from Shaitaan the cursed. So today we did a more formal lesson on that.

We also reviewed what we should say to make Shaitan go away... Lil Muallimah couldn't read the text but really enjoyed and got the message by the simple facial expressions in the worksheet below.
.

Besides this I also did another related activity which I will discuss in detail in Lil Muallim # 2's section.

To further enhance the concept that all our good and bad deeds are recorded..(something we've been discussing for the past few weeks) I made Lil Muallimah do the following worksheet and also tied it in with the concept of ithnan (two) Two angels sit on each on our shoulder and write down all we do.

So which angel do we want to do most of the writing? The one on our right ofcourse!!!!

Ramadan Activity Bag Day # 14

Activity bag # 14 actually held the craft of the day..... Seeking Allah protection from Shaitaan at night. I had the cut outs ready in the bag Lil mualliamh and I appliedglue and stuck them on  cardboard and then Lil Mualliamh decorated it with our crescent and star stamps for night sky.

For now we will hang this craft on our Ramadan craft wall. Later it will be stuck up above Lil Muallimahs bed Inshallah!

Lil Muallimah's Activities

Shaitaans Tricks

I did a little play acting in front of the kids and pretended to interview Shaitaan on how his story of disobedience and how he attacks us. I remembered this activity from a play some mothers had done back home for an Islamic Class. My Lil Muallims thoroughly enjoyed their Mom acting and making weird sounds and expressions. They even asked for a repeat performance so I actually ended up doing it twice. Lil Muallimah wanted me do it again later in the evening but I obliged with another story instead :)

Some of Shaitaans tricks discussed were:
  • making us think we want to eat more, when we can't we end up leaving it on our plate and feeding Shaitaan.. Astaghfirullah!
  • not listening to our parents... Astaghfirullah !
  • not sharing and fighting with our siblings ...Astaghfirullah!
  • distracting us in Salah.... Astaghfirullah!
  • making us forget our night adhkar so we have bad dreams... Astaghfirullah!
  • making us waste our time is useless activities, making us feel how fun they are.... Astaghfirullah!
  • making us feel anger.. Astaghfirullah! (this ones for me too!!! ASTAGHFIRULLAH!)
I also discussed that he keeps changing his tricks and attacks us in different ways so we can't always figure it out. But if we know how to make him run away... we can protect ourselves.

So how can we make him run away?
We reviewed redaing Tauz (Auzu billahi miashaitanir rajeem) with Lil Muallimah and the bigger dua with Lil Muallim # 2... (Rabbi auzubika min hamazat i shayateeni..................). Something I need to review and remember to read too.....:):):):)

A rusty heart vs a shiny heart

I discussed the following hadith with Lil Muallim # 2.

Prophet Muhammad Sallallaho Alaihi Wasallam said:

"The heart becomes rusty like iron in water."
when asked how to stop this corrosion Rasulallah Sallallaho Alaihi wasallam said
"Remember to recite the Quran."

And Lil Muallim # 2 made the following craft and wrote down the points on his own........accept the last three words :):)

The red heart is actually made of shiny red card stock giving it  metallic which Lil Muallim # 2 loved.

Ramadan Activities Day # 13

ZAKAH
&
SADAQAH JAR

Confession: I haven't been feeling too well and did day 13th's activities while in bed. Lil Muallim # 2 was out with Abi all day and did his activity on his own in the very little time he was home for. All the pictures were taken a day later.

Lil Muallimah's Activities

Ramadan Vocabulary Words

Lil Muallimah has been chanting za is for zakat since before Ramadan, roughly from around the time we did our Ramadan sensory tub.

So I was it was high time we did za is for Zakat activity.......Lil Muallimah colored in her worksheet showing a bag of money and then filled in her play money in a pretty bag. She kept saying this is for teh poor and needy while filling it, as well as for the rest of the day showing everyone else in the family. Mashallah!

We also continued our discussion on good deeds and discussed how we can get extra bonus good deeds by following the examples of Rasulallah Sallallaho Alaihiwasallam in our day to day activities. Imagine getting ajr for everyday chores!!!!

Seen is for Sunnah......

Each petal has a picture for a sunnah act.....saying Assalamo alaikum, making dua, saying dua before and after eating or drinking, starting from the right side,  wearing slippers when going to toilet, cleaning teeth morning and night and saying Allaho akbar when climbing up stairs and Subhanallah when going down. (the last one still needs implementing!)

Ramadan Activity Bag # 13

Lil Mualliamh has been doing this activity for quite a few months now. I had made these cards with drawings related to the words. I thought of putting it into the Ramadan activity bag as it ties very well with our Ramadan lessons.
The way we do this activity is that I recite the words in a tune which  my Lil Muallims like. Lil Muallimah picks up the corresponding cards and lays them down.

Here I will write down the translation of the words that I recite in Arabic.........

I love Allah, my Creator

I love Muhammad (Sallallaho alaihi wasallam), my Prophet
I Love Quran, my book

I love Kabah my Qiblah
I love Islam, I love Islam, I love Islam, my religion

All laid out.....

Lil Muallimah really enjoys this especially as especially of her in the cards in pink hijab :):):):):):). I hope to make a printable for downlaod so you all can use these cards in your home too  Inshallah.....it has been on my to do list for quite some time.

 Arabic Number......Ithnaan (two)

I finally introduced the ithnaan card... Lil Muallimah was actually eating cereal (without milk) and I asked her to show me ithnan which she promptly did with her cereal. Mashallah!

I plan to do two conceots with ithnaan with her. Todays concept was....
A good Muslim has to do 2 things....
  1. Read Quran and follow it
  2.  read Ahadith to learn Sunnah

Lil Mualliamh placed this picture card under ithnaan while we discussed the concept

Lil Muallim # 2's Activitiy

As I mentioned earlier Lil Muallim #2 was hardly home today. So in the little time he was home we talked about sadaqah and making a sadaqah jar while I was in bed. Lil Muallim # 2 made his Sadaqah jar all by himself, before heading out again with Abi. He really wanted to make sure he had something to enter the challenge for day 13 before Maghrib Salah.

He painted the jar with glitter paint to make it shiny. unfortunately it doesn't show well in the picture, which he also took himslef.

When he was back from taraweeh he said he wanted to redo it as he was not happy with it. I told him he surely could ... but in all honesty here we have shared the picture without the touch ups :)

Ramadan Activities Day # 12

I LOVE ALLAH
&
ALL GOOD DEEDS ARE SADAQAH

Qadrallah I wasn't feeling too well so we didn't get to do a lot of work, we did talk about our lesson and did one activity each.

Lil Muallimah's Activities

I Love Allah and Allah loves me

As we had discussed ibadah the day before, today we discussed more on why we do it....... "To show our love to Allah" and those who do everything to please Allah...."Allah loves them too"

Lil Muallimah made this craft by tracing the writing with a marker and then painting the hearts with the side of her hands with fingers closed painted red. Left hand first and then right making the cutest hearts.

You might also enjoy our previous related activity on this topic below is a glimpse .......

Ramadan Activity Bag Day # 12

As Lil Muallim # 2's subject of the day was good deeds, I thought it to be suitable to use some good deed cards, from the Box of Manners by Learning Roots.

Lil Muallimah had fun finding the matches. I discussed the pictures with her, while she added her comments to each :)

Lil Muallim # 2's Activities

All Good Deeds Are Sadaqah

Every now and then we review the hadith "Kullu Ma'aroofin Sadaqah"....."All good deeds are sadaqah(charity)". It's a wonderful reminder that even the slightest seemingly insignificant good deed is deemed an act of charity......from removing a harmful thing from ones path, helping others, bringing a glass of water to simply smiling at your parents or siblings... ......Especially when good deeds are done consciously to seek Allah's pleasure...........

Lil Mualliam # 2 made a craft with the hadith as the header, and some good deeds written on hearts and then taped on threads that were inserted through the header.

While making it he wasn't sure how it would turn out. He actually left for iftaar and maghrib salah to the masjid right after finishing his  craft. When he came back and saw his craft on the wall, he let out a big wooooooooooooowwww!!!! He was all smiles ... the ear to ear ones. Alhumdolillah. I hope to redo this craft with him, and make a longer trail of good deeds Inshallah !

Some of  the good deeds written by Lil Muallim # 2 (some with Ummi's hints) were...... smile, give zakah, give charity, respecting elders, caring, sharing, kindness etc

DUA

Ramadan Activities Day # 11

IBADAH
&
REWARDS IN JANNAH

Lil Muallimah's Activities

Ramadan Vocabulary

We discussed ain is for Ibadah and what ibadah means. Staying away from things that Allah dislikes and doing things he loves. Then I asked Lil Muallimah "What does Allah like us to do most?" she said "Read Quran and pray Salah"..... Mashallah! Then I said, "What about making dua and praisng Allah  on how wonderful He is". she said "That too!" Alhumdolillah.

She colored in her Ibadah worksheet and then we cut out the pictures to make her craft.

Ibadah Craft

We continued our discussion on Ibadah and why we do it. To show or love for Allah.....
I made lil mualliamh stick her colored cut outs from the Ibadaah worksheet on a foam sheet and cut them out again. I cut out one.

I used the heart shape cut out foam sheet from  our previous Allah gave us craft and Lil Muallimah stuck another foam piece under it. I wrote Allah inside the heart which Lil Muallimah colored in with glitter pen Mashallah!

Next I punched three holes at the bottom of the heart with a toothpick and inserted threads in them. Lil Muallimah then stuck the cut outs with tape onto the threads.

Result....

We do Ibaadah to show our love for Allah!

Ramadan Activity Bag day # 11

Bag # 11 holds her puppets from day # 10 for her to pull out and play..:)

Lil Muallim # 2's Activities

Dreaming of Jannah

All of us dream about Jannah, but to really make it a reality we have to strive to stay steadfast on the right path with emaan and patience. For our little children learning this fact is an ongoing process just like it is for us even at our ages. For really getting this concept into the innocent minds of our children, I have yet another family tradition. Almost evry year I make my Lil muallims talk / draw about what they would like to have in Jannah. Anything they would like as nothing is impossible for  Allah. Over the years we have had many interesting and creative ideas come from them Mashallah.

The point of this activity is that after all the excitement they feel thinking wonderful things they would like to enjoy in Jannah, is to actually think how they can get all that or even better for real? It's very interesting to see the serious ponderings after that. I tell them that Allah is capable of giving all we can imagine of and beyond....we can never truly imagine the bounties Allah has in store for His blesssed people. The question is....... are we striving in His way to become among the blessed people?

This time round Lil muallim # 2 preferred to use a whole bristol board to make his drawing rather than an A4 sheet. Below are sections of his drawings with explanations.

A big castle with his flags and a chocolate cookie throwing machine at it's side. The chocolate cookies are being thrown onto the chocolate fountain which spreads onto the cookies and then hardens inside the cookies......

He asked if he could  draw a boy with a smiley face to show his brother he wants to meet. (my premature son who passed away a few minutes after he was born)

A ride....... that really looks like a Ferris Wheel to me, not only was I impressed by his drawing but also surprised at the his choice.

His flying horse and him following it in his flying machine with a colorful rainbow on top

A machine making the best, fastest cars
plus a machine dishing out his favorite breakfast mango pulp with milk and sugar in a bowl with paratha (fried roti) popping machine.

A huge never ending ice cream cone with a machine at the bottom that would just keep the ice cream coming!

A volcano shooting out his favorite chocolates and candies also adding them to the ice cream

A sprinkle spraying machine next to the volcano spreading  sprinkles out everywhere underneath the cookies and a chocolate chip machine adding chocolate chips to the chocolate river.

PHEW!!!

I truly love this tradition in our home which started with LiL Muallim #1 years ago. His drawings and ideas had really left me dumbfounded  and all emotioanl about the innocence of thought and creative thinking these young minds are capable of Subhanallah!

In the end after the drawing and all the excitement I get a chance to talk to them how that coud become a reality and what they would have to do for it. As the days pass I sometimes mention something from their drawing saying....."Who wants that?", "How are we going to get that?".....and most of the times the desired change in behavior action comes about. Alhumdolillah!

DUA

O Allah  help us to perfect our  salah how our dear Prophet Sallalaho alaihi wasallam has taught us. Make us among those who are conscious of their salah, and establish it as it is required of us..... O Allah make us among those who are able to enter the Jannah through Bab us Salah ........... Ameen
